Awakening is on the of the finest open forum weekends on conservative principles and thought in the United States. Participants discover what the most intuitive and insightful minds in our country believe is on the horizon for the country politically, economically and philosophically through interaction in the group discussions. Believing that ideas influence and sharing ideas is all important, Awakening was conceived as an annual weekend retreat to exchange ideas, examine trends and learn from leading experts in a variety of fields. Awakening’s first event was held in January, 1996 at The Cloister at Sea Island, Georgia. The event remained there until 2008.  In 2009 Awakening was held at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, South Carolina and remains there for the upcoming event in 2010.

Awakening’s Board of Directors, led by Chairman Ernest Taylor, is a diverse group of like-minded conservatives, who come from a variety professions from throughout the U.S.
